Weak tornado confirmed in Dahlgren, Virginia (National Weather Service DC/Baltimore)

In a preliminary storm report released Friday evening by the local National Weather Service office in Sterling, investigators confirm a small EF-1 tornado touched down near the Navel Support Facility Dahlgren.

The tornado traveled a little over one-half mile before ending near Barnesville Park just north of Highway 301.

Winds were measured at approximately 90 miles per hour and downed trees and flipped four cars.

No injuries were reported during the storm that occurred around 8:20 Friday morning.

Dahlgren is located in King George County and according the 2010 census, had a population just over 2,500.
