It was only fitting that Alex Ovechkin threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Saturday’s Nationals game. After all, he and the Capitals just won the Stanley Cup for the first time ever.

Nevertheless, it’s fairly obvious he’s much better at hockey than he is at baseball.

Ovechkin, decked out in a No. 8 white Nationals baseball jersey with the Stanley Cup right next to him, ended up throwing two ceremonial first pitches after his first one sailed over Max Scherzer’s head.

Because of that, he asked Scherzer for the ball back to try again. On the second throw, he managed to connect with Scherzer.

Ovechkin was joined at the game by his Capitals teammates, who took part in the celebration with the Nationals.

In the game itself, the Nationals beat the Giants, 7-5.
