Wounded veterans say golf aids healing
For wounded war veterans Alec Williamson and Jack Schumacher, golf is there escape.
"I got injured in 2009 and ended up at Walter Reed Army Medical Center they put me back together physically, emotionally, mentally," Annapolis resident Jack Schumacher said.
Both men who served our country are thankful they found the Salute Military Golf Association.
"A friend pulled me out of the hospital bed and said I am going to show you something pretty special and sure enough he did," Schumacher said. "I learned how to play golf and met great friends."
The two veterans got to play at the Quicken Loans National with pro golfer Billy Horschel.
"It is pretty special being out here, I ran into a half dozen people who have thanked me for my service and that really touches me to my core being," Schumacher said.
