Toyota Team Player: Saddiq Bey

Four-star 2018 forward Saddiq Bey commits to Villanova.

Sidwell Friends graduate Saddiq Bey recently made a big announcement when he committed to play basketball with he defending NCAA champion Villanova Wildcats.

"Opportunities like this only come once in a lifetime, so for me to end up here is amazing," said Saddiq Bey.

Bey will follow in fellow Sidwell graduate Josh Hart's footsteps. Hart played at Villanova before being drafted by the Lakers last year.

"I mean just coming from Sidwell, sometimes we don't get the same publicity as all of the other schools in the DMV," said Bey. "I look up at Josh [Hart] and see how he kind of put this school on the map and that kind of inspired me to do the same."

When Bey first started at Sidwell he was only 5-foot-9. Now, now he stands at 6-foot-7.

"I knew he had the attitude to be good, but certainly when he hit the genetic lottery and shot up to 6-foot-7 and even before that, you saw he had the opportunity to be a really good player," said Sidwell head coach Eric Singletary.

Congratulations Saddiq Bey you are this week's Toyota Team Player.
