Ovechkin makes 8-year-old girl's wish come true

ARLINGTON, Va. (WJLA) - Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin granted the wish Friday of a young girl who has been repeatedly hospitalized with type 1 diabetes.

Lauren Santora, 8, of Norwalk, Connecticut, has been a lifelong Washington Capitals fan and wanted meet her favorite plaver, Ovechkin.

On Friday, Santora got together with Ovechkin for breakfast at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, and afterwards went on a shopping spree at the Team Store. She also received a tour of the Capitals locker room, where she was presented with her own stall. Following practice, Santora skated with Ovechkin and other Capitals players.

Santora's wish was made possible by Kids Wish Network, a nationwide charitable organization that works to help children experiencing life-altering situations.
