HERNDON, Va. (ABC7) — For the past 10 years, Davorka Suvak has provided free equestrian lessons for children with special needs.
The small nonprofit is called Spirit in Fairfax County.
"You are a fighter, you can do it," Davorka says to one of her students.
But just before Thanksgiving, Suvak received horrible news.
She was told Spirit would have to vacate because the owner planned to sell.
"I mean crying would be an understatement," said Celia Lupo whose daughter participates in the program.
Thankfully, with the help of Fairfax County Parks and donations from the community, Spirit is currently working on a deal to relocate.
Spirit is only able to help children with special needs through donations from the community.
If you are interested in helping out please visit the Spirit website to make a donation.
