WASHINGTON (WJLA) - The search is on for a man police said stabbed a woman as she was riding her bike Tuesday evening.

The woman told ABC7, she's 7 months pregnant and was on her bike heading home after work.

The 33-year-old woman also told ABC7 she was riding her bike towards Barney Circle when she was attacked out of nowhere.

Police said the man, armed with a knife, stabbed the woman in the shoulder. The woman said she kept riding a few blocks up to G Street southeast before getting off her bike for help.

The woman said she received stitches but Wednesday she's doing okay.

A couple who lived in the area said they were just coming home to their neighborhood across from Congressional Cemetery Tuesday afternoon, when they saw police, "From all directions on bikes, and in their cars," said one neighbor.

The woman added, "It was alarming and it looked like I was pregnant which was also disturbing because I also have a daughter that's pregnant."
