Tim Kaine takes lead over George Allen in Virginia, new poll shows

In the midst of the U.S. presidential election race, the contest for the U.S. Senate is also on—particularly for the Democratic Party that is working to keep its hold on{ }the majority.

A large part of the battle for the majority centers squarely on Wisconsin and Virginia.

A new Quinnipiac University/New York Times/CBS News poll shows that in Virginia, Democrats are at an advantage when it comes to filling the soon-to-be-vacated seat of Democratic Senator Jim Webb, who is retiring.

Former governor Tim Kaine is leading former governor and senator George Allen, among likely Virginia voters, The New York Times reported. Kaine was leading Allen by 51 to 44 percent, the Times said. The lead is up from the two-percentage point advantage Kaine held above Allen in August.
