WARWICK, R.I. (WJAR) - The state Department of Transportation is figuring out what to do with a flatbed truck hauling a giant generator that's stopped at the side of Interstate 95 in Warwick because the DOT says it's too heavy for any bridges in the state.

The truck is carrying a 560,000-pound generator from Quonset. It wasn't immediately clear where the load was headed.

The DOT said the truck had a pending permit application, but it wasn't approved.

The truck was pulled over a couple a days ago just north of where Route 4 merges with Interstate 95. The curiosity factor has been causing traffic delays.

The truck would theoretically have to travel over more than 35 bridges in the state. It crossed four bridges to get where it is, and officials are unsure if it can make it back to Quonset.

The vehicle has about 100 wheels.
