West Virginia resident with machete cuts off suspect's hand during home invasion

ONA, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — The Cabell County Sheriff's Department in West Virginia said a resident armed with a machete severed the hand of a suspect during a home invasion.

Sheriff Chuck Zerkle said it happened about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at a mobile home park in Ona.

Zerkle said a homeowner was armed with a machete when the suspect entered the mobile home. Zerkle said the suspect advanced toward the homeowner and the suspect's hand was severed.

Zerkle hasn't released the names of those involved but said charges are pending against the home invasion suspect.
