A one-year-old boy was found naked and lying in the dirt in a forest in Oregon.

According to a post on the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the sheriff's department was in desperate search of a one-year-old boy, after his father Brandon Blouin, 25, of Belpre, Ohio, came out of the woods on May 10.

Blouin told police that he, an 18-year-old female and their son, Bradley Michael Thomas, had been staying in a vehicle in the forest. The female had walked away from the vehicle at some point alone and left Bradley in the care and custody of Blouin. Blouin said he waited for a period of time for her to return, but then took Bradley with him to search for the female.

At some point during his search, he set Bradley down in the forest and left him.

Deputies believe that Blouin may have been under the influence of a controlled substance when he made the choice to sit Bradley down and walk away.

The sheriff's office began their search for Bradley on horseback, they used drones and helicopters with thermal image sensors. Around 12:10 p.m., a detective who was assisting with the search, located Bradley a mile away from the family's vehicle. Bradley was taken to an area hospital.

Blouin facing charges of criminal mistreatment, child neglect, endangering the welfare of a minor and assault. The assault charges stem from an injury that deputies believe Bradley suffered while in the care of his father, according to the sheriff's office

The investigation is currently ongoing.
