Man fatally shoots co-worker providing hurricane relief in Florida

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (WEAR) — A Houston man fatally shot his co-worker at a Greyhound bus station in Florida after being fired from his job as a relief worker.

Fort Walton Beach Police said Ledesma Wooden of Houston was standing outside a company van when he opened fire on his co-workers sitting in the van.

Aija Rai Hunter, 24, of Houston was shot in the abdomen and was later pronounced dead at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. Phillip Earl Lydia, 49, of Houston was shot in the leg but is recovering.

Police say a verbal altercation preceded the shooting, which happened around 8:30 p.m.

Wooden was fled the scene but was apprehended quickly. He is charged with homicide, attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Other charges are pending.
