Malfunction leaving Capital One customers short on cash

(Capital One)

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX) - Some Capital One customers are still waiting on a resolution Thursday morning after noticing a negative balance in their accounts.

The bank says a system malfunction caused some accounts to be charged for each debit card transaction they’ve recently made.

The bank first addressed the issue at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday on Twitter.

The bank was met by a stream of angry replies to that tweet, with one customer saying that he was overcharged $300 and is unable to pay rent.

There is still no word on what may have caused the duplicate charges, when the problem may be resolved, or when customers can expect their refunds, but Capital One is encouraging all customers to check their accounts and say that “All hands are on deck working on a fix.”
