Fires in the street as anti-Trump protesters gathered in California

OAKLAND, Calif. (WJLA) - Fires were set in the street, buildings were damaged, and one woman was seriously injured after being hit by a car as people gathered in Oakland, California to protest Donald Trump's win in the 2016 presidential election.

At least 50 protesters were reportedly blocking traffic and throwing objects at vehicles on state Highway 24, according to KGO-TV.

ABC7 Bay Area also reports that police have arrested a few people for "disobedience and vandalism."

This all took place some time before 2 a.m. Pacific time.

A metro station was also shut down in the area for safety.
