WASHINGTON (ABC7) — Metro has announced planned dates of future shutdowns for platform work at its rail stations that are scheduled to take place in 2021 and 2022.
A Metro spokesperson tells ABC7's Tom Roussey that the dates are not yet set in stone and are subject to change.
From mid-February to mid-May of 2021, Metro will shut down stations at Arlington Cemetery and Addison Road.
A few months later during the summer of 2021, shutdowns for platform repairs will occur at Greenbelt, College Park, Prince George's Plaza, and West Hyattsville.
In the summer of 2022, WMATA plans to shut down every station east of Stadium Armory on the Orange Line at Minnesota Avenue, Deanwood, Cheverly, Landover, and New Carrollton.
Metro is also planning to do platform work at the Reagan National Airport station from the fall of 2022 to the spring of 2023 without closing the station. Officials say parts of the station may close at times, but two tracks will always remain open for passengers to get on and to get off there while crews conduct the repairs.
