WATCH: Xiao Qi Ji has fun practicing his pouncing at Smithsonian's National Zoo
WASHINGTON (7News) — Giant panda Xiao Qi Ji is having some fun in the sun this week!
On Friday, Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute provided an update on the panda on their Facebook page.
Zoo officials say the little one had a play session with his mother Mei Xiang and was practicing his pouncing. Last month, they say Xiao Qi Ji began husbandry training sessions. He first started off doing some target training.

Participation in training is voluntary, but zoo officials say the panda is enjoying the interaction with the crew.
As his training continues, visitors are able to watch crews interact with Xiao Qi Ji. Watch him on the Giant Panda Cam here.
