MARTINSBURG, W. Va. — ABC7 News has learned a local woman was one of the nearly 60 people killed in the Las Vegas mass shooting.
Denise Salmon Burditus, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, was at the concert with her husband Tony, according to family members.
Tony Burditus survived and Denise reportedly died in his arms.
Social media posts indicate the couple had been excited to attend the three day country music festival in Las Vegas.
One picture on Denise’s Twitter account showed her with Tony at the concert about a half hour before the shooting began Sunday night.
While in Martinsburg, ABC7 was told Denise Burditus was from the area, and had moved around because of Tony’s military job until returning to Martinsburg with him.
Family members who gathered Monday in Hedgesville, which is outside Martinsburg, did not want to say anything publicly other than to ask for prayers and say that they wished to grieve in private.
According to a records search Denise Burditus was around 50 years old.
