A New York woman has been charged after she attacked a security guard, hitting him in the head with her fanny pack and threatening him with a knife, police say.

When an officer arrested the woman they found a small pigeon in the fanny pack, according to a release from the Fairfax County Police.

The security guard saw 56-year-old Laurie Weaver yelling at employees at the Social Security Administration Office on Waples Mill Road in Fairfax Tuesday morning.

When the guard came up to her, she hit him in the head with her fanny pack, police say.

After he escorted the woman outside the building, she threatened him with a knife. He quickly closed the door.

An officer found Weaver and arrested her. The pigeon was then found in the fanny pack.

No one was hurt in the incident. The pigeon was taken to the county’s animal shelter and was not harmed. It will be released into the wild when the investigation concludes.

Weaver was charged with attempted unlawful wounding for threatening the guard with the knife. Additional charges will be possible after Animal Protection Police have been consulted.
