BETHESDA, Md. (7News) — The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) said Wednesday morning that Bethesda Avenue in Montgomery County was closed due to an influx of water from another source, and not a water main break, after an extensive investigation.
This comes after a closure was reported along Bethesda Avenue in Montgomery County due to a reported water main break early Tuesday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT).
MDOT said the incident took place at MD-355 South at Bethesda Ave. The southbound shoulder and right lanes were closed.

On Tuesday afternoon, WSSC Water sent 7News the following statement before their Wednesday investigation results:
"WSSC Water has not been able to pinpoint the leak because storm drains in the area are clogged with leaves. Water is backing up as a result. Maryland State Highway Administration has been communicating with Montgomery County about the storm drain issue. Once that is resolved, WSSC Water will make appropriate repairs. Water service to customers in the area is not impacted."
On Wednesday, WSSC Water told 7News the incident has since been resolved.
WSSC Water tweeted that crews responded to 75 water main breaks and leaks in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties Monday night.
