MT. RAINIER, Md. (WJLA) — A water main break has closed an elementary school in Prince George's County Tuesday morning.
The 12-inch water main break happened at 4:30 p.m. on Monday in the 4600 block of 34th Street in the Brentwood area, according to Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) spokeswoman Lyn Riggins.
Approximately 85 customers were affected by the water main break. Twelve of those customers are considered "critical," including Thomas S. Stone Elementary School, which was closed Tuesday on what would've been the first day of school for students.
Riggins said repairs are expected to last throughout the afternoon.
