WASHINGTON (7News) — Residents and tourists in the District can once again enjoy the views of the nation's capital as they cruise along the Potomac River.
City Cruises Washington, D.C., announced that the 2023 season of the Potomac Water Taxi began on Friday, March 3. The company says the water taxi will offer new daily routes and expanded service.
With connections between The Wharf, Georgetown, Old Town Alexandria and National Harbor, officials say the water taxi offers convenient access to both tourist attractions and local entertainment centers, including Capitol Hill and the Navy Yard.

“Offering incredible views and reliable service in a serene setting, the Potomac Water Taxi embodies the best of D.C.,” says Kelsey McCarthy, general manager of City Cruises Washington D.C., which operates the water taxi. “We’re excited to operate at seven days a week for the first time since 2019, creating direct connections between some of the region’s most popular hubs for tourists and locals alike.”
The first run of the season departed from The Wharf on Friday at 11:45 a.m.
The Potomac Water Taxi is also kicking off its daily sightseeing tours just in time for the National Cherry Blossom Festival on March 18. Throughout the festival, the Cherry Blossom Water Taxi tour offers up-close views of the blooms along the Potomac River shoreline.

Departures begin at The Wharf at 11:45 a.m. and will depart every 30 minutes to one hour -- depending on the day of the week. Click here to see the water taxi's full schedule.
Officials said tickets can be bought online or at ticket booths located at each port.
