High school graduates in the District were awarded nearly $50,000 in scholarships, officials announced.

The Lockridge Foundation held its 12th annual scholarship awards ceremony last month to award almost $50,000 in scholarships to wards 7 and ward 8 high school graduates.

Students in the Class of 2022 who received scholarships include:

  • Jamarie Green -- Louisiana State University
  • Desiree Horne -- Queens University Belfast
  • Armani Johnson -- Deleware State University
  • Miles T. Leecost -- Morehouse College
  • Mikalei Miller -- North Carolina A&T University
  • Kendall Shields -- Alabama A&M University
  • Khalil Sommerville -- Florida A&M University
  • Briana Sturdivant -- Towson University
  • Tori Tracey -- North Carolina A&T University
  • Dion White -- George Mason University
