A banner displaying "Washington Commanders" was spotted inside the stadium's team store, adding fuel to the rumors that "Commanders" will become the team's new nickname.

The Washington Football Team will reveal its new name on Wednesday, Feb. 2, live on the TODAY show.

Back in September, during a podcast with ESPN's Adam Schefter, Washington Football Team co-CEO Tanya Snyder said that the final eight names in contention were Armada, Presidents, Brigade, Redhawks, Commanders, RedWolves, Defenders and Football Team.

Aiding the speculation surrounding the name, former Washington quarterback Joe Theismann said on CBS Sports Radio that fans will great grow to embrace "Commanders."

Shortly after the radio clip circulated social media, he texted Washington Times reporter Matthew Paras, "Not completely sure what the new name. No one has told me. Like you I’ll find out on Wednesday."
