Washington Capitals reveal cherry blossom jerseys and 10-day charity auction
WASHINGTON (7News) — The Washington Capitals are celebrating cherry blossom season with floral jerseys designed by a local D.C. artist and will wear them during game warmups on April 2.
The Capitals play against the New York Rangers at Capital One Arena at 1 p.m. on April 2. The autographed cherry blossom jerseys and signed hockey pucks with the cherry blossom design will be included in an auction the same day.
The 2023 Capitals cherry blossom auction proceeds will benefit the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, the official charity of the Washington Capitals.
The auction will open at noon and close on April 12 at 3 p.m. Make your bid on the Washington Capitals website here.
Taylor Olson, a D.C.-based artist of TKOPaintings, designed the cherry blossom-inspired jerseys with hand-drawn blossoms intertwined into the Capitals logo, the team said. The white outlines symbolize the start of the flower's bloom. The design continues to the back of the jersey showing cherry branches, buds and blossoms.

Capital stores also feature cherry blossom retail. The team store at Medstar Capital Iceplex and the Capital One Arena will have retail items with the design, like t-shirts and hats. A 'D.C. Sports Cherry Blossom Headquarters' pop-up store begins on April 2.
The store is located on 7th Street NW, just north of F Street and next to the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro Station. All fans ticketed or not may access the store on 7th Street on April 2 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Fans attending the game may also enter the store through the 100-level concourse, near section 118/119, beginning when doors open at noon.
The pop-up store will also be open during the following Washington Wizards game: March 22, March 24, March 28 and April 4.
