LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (7News) — On Monday, remaining provisional and mail-in ballots were counted in Loudoun County, Va.
Democratic Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney Buta Biberaj and Republican Bob Anderson faced off in what is becoming one of the closest elections in Loudoun County this year.
On Election night, Anderson was leading Biberaj by more than 1,000 votes. On Monday, Anderson's lead shrunk, but he is still ahead.
Total votes as of Monday at 6:34 pm:
There are 342 votes left to be counted on Tuesday.
"So we did think that this would be a close race," Biberaj told 7News. "The last three and a half, two years, we've been able to show our community how important this position is. I think this is probably the most important position within the county.”
Commonwealth attorneys are some of the most powerful positions in Virginia with major influence over how crimes are prosecuted locally.

Biberaj was elected in 2019.
But former two-term CA Bob Anderson decided to come back this year and challenge Biberaj.
Anderson said he wants to put an end to what he calls Biberaj's soft of crime policies.
7News asked Anderson if he thinks this close race is a referendum on the job Biberaj has been doing in office.
"I've been a prosecutor for two terms before this, some of them know exactly what I'm capable of. But the other thing was anti-Buta, with her policies. There's a level of incompetence in that office.”
