HANOVER, Md. (ABC7) — A video has been shared on Instagram of the moment a man was shot just outside an entrance of the Arundel Mills mall in Hanover on Saturday night.
Two shots, then screams of panic can be heard on the video.
The shooting happened near entrance three of the mall around 7:45 p.m. when Anne Arundel County police said 16-year-old Jamari Marquese Hammond opened fire.
According to police, the incident — which was "targeted and isolated in nature" — stemmed from a verbal altercation between two groups of individuals previously unknown to each other. The victim, a man, arrived at an area hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower torso that is not life threatening as police investigated at the mall.
The 6-foot-1, 188-pound Hammond, of Severn, is wanted for attempted murder and other related charges, police said. Though he doesn't turn 18 until April 16, 2020, Hammond is being charged as an adult.
Police said they are working with Hammond’s parents to locate him.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts and/or the incident is urged to call the Anne Arundel County Police Department at (410) 222-8610 or 410-222-6155.
