WASHINGTON (7News) — The USAA Poppy Wall of Honor returned to the National Mall in D.C. for Memorial Day weekend to remember fallen heroes.
Officials said the temporary installation honors more than 645,000 American servicemembers who gave their lives in service to our nation since World War I.
The 133 feet long Poppy Wall of Honor will be on display from May 26 through May 28 on the National Mall.

7News spoke to John Bird, a retired Navy Vice Admiral and senior vice president of military affairs for USAA. He was at the site Friday morning setting up the wall.
"The poppy is a flower of remembrance for the men and women who gave their lives so we can enjoy liberty and the great quality of life we have," Bird said.
New this year, Bird said they have added a new panel to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the U.S.'s exit from the Vietnam War.
