Uber driver stabbed following dispute over radio program, suspect arrested
LARGO, Md. (ABC7) —
Prince George’s County Police have now arrested a woman who they said attacked Uber driver Walter Wiggins.
It happened last month in the 1000 block of Largo Center Drive.
Wiggins said the suspect, 18-year-old Keniya Parks, became aggressive when he refused to change the radio station he was listening to.
“I was listening to the Orioles game between the Orioles and the Red Sox,” Wiggins said.
He says when he decided to end the ride early, she began attacking him.
“She started kicking me," Wiggins said. “Then the next thing I know, she’s taking a knife and cutting.”
Parks, who turned herself into police, is charged with assault and reckless endangerment.
“I was glad that she has been arrested,” Wiggins said.
“What this driver experienced is terrible. We’ve been in touch with him to offer our support and are relieved he is doing OK under the circumstances,” Uber spokeswoman Jodi Page said. “The account holder’s access to the app was removed.”
Wiggins said he will soon return to the ride-sharing app and he will be using extra caution.
“I want to tell the drivers to be safe, because you don’t know who is going to get in your car,” Wiggins said.
