WASHINGTON (7News) — The First Alert Weather team was on Winter Alert Friday as a pre-Christmas arctic blast moved through the DMV, bringing dangerous temperatures, strong winds, downed trees and power outages.

POWER OUTAGES
As of 11 p.m., Dominion Energy's outage map shows the following numbers of people without power:
- 2,160 in Fairfax, Va.
- 138 in Arlington County, Va.
- 2 in Alexandria, Va.
- 1,558 in Loudoun County, Va.
- 165 in Fauquier County, Va.
As of 11 p.m., Pepco's outage map shows the following numbers of people without power:
- 113 in Washington, D.C.
- 8,956 in Montgomery County, Md.
- 52 in Prince George's County, Md.
A representative from Potomac Edison told 7News that as of around 6 p.m., they have restored power to more than 18,000 of around 38,000 customers affected by the winter storm in Maryland and West Virginia.
"The hardest hit areas in Maryland appear to be Brunswick and Frostburg," a Potomac Edison spokesperson said.
AMTRAK TEMORARILY SHUT DOWN
Amtrak announced around 8 p.m. that all traffic between Baltimore (BAL) and Washington (WAS) is stopped due to a powerline outage. They then announced around 10:30 p.m. that service had resumed.

Maryland
- West Lake Dr. is shut down between Tuckerman Rd. and West Lake Ter. is shut down as a result of a fallen tree in the roadway. Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes.
- Poplar Avenue and New Hampshire Ave., Takoma Park, a transformer blew, power out IAO New Hampshire Ave. & Sheridan St.
- Woodington Drive and Falls Road, Potomac AF Potomac Community center closed due to a large tree down on communication wires, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.
- Holiday Drive and Georgia Ave., Brookville, a tree brought wires down, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

Montgomery County Fire Department said they have received numerous calls for reports of widespread power outages, wires down, downed trees and crashes. Brush fires caused by downed powerlines were reported in Poolesville, Beallsville, Germantown and Gaithersburg.
Washington, D.C.
The intersection of North Capitol and Michigan Avenue including a five-block radius on the NE and NW sides experiencing high traffic volume, due to a power outage. Drivers are asked to avoid the area until this is rectified.
Southbound Interstate 395 before exit 10C, the right two lanes will be closed for the remainder of the day due to an earlier crash impacting the pedestrian bridge and the guard railing, requiring repairs.
D.C. Fire and EMS crews were called to the 1200 block of Franklin Street Northeast for a report of trees and wires down. A downed tree struck a vehicle in the area. Officials said there were no injuries.
