An 18-year-old student has been arrested after he brought a loaded gun to his Anne Arundel County high school, police said.

Maleek Benjamin, 18, of Glen Burnie, was arrested and charged Tuesday, the same day the gun was found on him. He faces charges of possession of a firearm under 21, dangerous weapon on school property, handgun on person and loaded handgun on person.

According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, officers were notified around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday of a social media video apparently taken at Old Mill High School in Millersville that shows an unidentified male with a handgun. Through an investigation, the suspect was identified as Benjamin.

The school resource officer was then immediately notified and located Benjamin with the assistance of school officials. A loaded revolver handgun was then recovered from Benjamin’s coat pocket, police said.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
