Smartphone analytics provide insight into cost of shutdown

During the government shutdown in December and January, as more than one million federal workers and contractors went unpaid for weeks, businesses all over America felt the impact and lost money.

Gravy Analytics, which uses smartphone data to track consumer trends, says during the shutdown, foot traffic in area electronics stores dropped 46 percent compared to last year.

Best Buy lost 44 percent and Apple Stores lost 33 percent.

Richard Reeve talks with federal workers about what they expect as a second shutdown looms at Friday midnight.
