OCEAN CITY, Md. (ABC7) — A Cessna plane landed in the water along the beach at Ocean City on Tuesday after the pilot says he suffered engine trouble and had to make an emergency landing.
The pilot, 23-year-old Trevor Diehl, was able to get out of the plane on his own and says that he was uninjured, though he was evaluated by paramedics.
Deihl says he took off from Reedville, Virginia, planning to land at Ocean City Airport, and was about one mile off of shore when he had to glide the plane into the ocean. The plane then floated in toward the beach.
The crash happened at around 6:19 p.m. at 21st Street on the Ocean City Boardwalk.
The plane is secured, and Maryland State Police are investigating.
