WASHINGTON (ABC7) — A New Image by Acia is the name of a beauty shop at the intersection of Georgia and Florida, NW.

The shop held its grand re-opening Monday. It was a celebration of a new owner, Acia Williams, taking over the shop she had managed for the last eight years for Chet Bennett, who owns a beauty college and several salons.

"I'd been on dialysis for a little over a year," said Bennett when he sought a kidney donor.

Williams, who had been good friends with Bennett for 20 years, stepped up without hesitation.

She was a perfect match and the operation was a success.

When asked if the gift of a shop is his thank you?

Bennett said, "This is thank you. I can't begin to thank you enough for you giving me life, but we can start with you making your dream a reality by having your own salon."

Williams said God told her to do it.

Bennett said, "I thank God that whatever voice it was, she paid attention to it."

Both said they've been doing fine since the April 2019 surgery.
