Hyattsville City Police responded to Busboys and Poets after multiple shots were fired in the area Thursday night.

Police say the call reporting a shooting came in around 9:40 p.m. They say several businesses, including Busboys and Poets in the 5300 block of Baltimore Avenue, and one apartment building were struck by gunfire.

No injuries were reported, police say.

Police found multiple rifle casings near the intersection of Jefferson Street and 45th Avenue. A bullet hit a window on the second floor of an apartment building on 45th Avenue, according to a police statement released Friday morning.

Police are looking for a dark gray SUV, possibly a Toyota Highlander, that was also targeted in the shooting. A driver’s side mirror was damaged in the shooting and is missing.

Police released photos from a surveillance video. They are asking that any witnesses or anyone in the area with cell phone video to call the police at 301-985-5060.

One suspect was described in the press release as “a thin, tall, medium-complexion black male with a short haircut armed with a rifle and wearing a white t-shirt, jeans and white sneakers.”

Police say he got into the front passenger seat of a white BMW SUV with a sunroof, tinted windows, and silver rims. The SUV headed north on Baltimore Avenue with two other suspects inside.

The other two suspects were described: “One is a light-complexion black male with short dreadlocks wearing a yellow tee-shirt, jeans and a ‘trucker’ style cap. The third suspect is a black male with short hair, prescription-style glasses, a V-Neck T-shirt and walked with a limp.”
