Twelve people were hospitalized, including one who was flown to shock trauma, after a serious crash involving pickup truck and a commuter van that flipped over in Frederick Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

ABC7's John Gonzalez reports that the truck was in the southbound lane when the driver lost control, went into the northbound lane and got hit by the van which then overturned. Ten people from the van were taken to the hospital along with the driver and passenger of the pickup truck. Authorities have not said which of the 12 was taken to shock trauma.

Maryland State Police say the crash happened going north on U.S. 15 just before Biggs Ford Road.

The weather is believed to be a factor in the crash. U.S. 15 is currently closed in the area except for one southbound lane, according to police.
