Semi-truck collides with CSX train in Maryland, police say

A semi-truck collided with a CSX train Friday morning in Frederick County.

The truck driver sustained a non-life-threatening shoulder injury and was taken to an area hospital.

A CSX train was traveling to Louisville, Kentucky when the crash happened. Police say there were no injuries to the crew, and the accident was not the result of a derailment.

CSX released a statement late Friday morning on the accident.

Just after 9:00 a.m. today a westbound CSX train en route to Louisville, KY struck a commercial truck at a private road crossing near Commerce Street and Monroe Street in Point of Rocks, Md. There are no reported injuries to the crew of the train and no damage, leaks or spills of any freight. CSX appreciates the swift response by the Frederick County Fire Department, Frederick County Sheriff’s Department along with first responders from Loudon County, Virginia and the Maryland State Police.

The crash occurred at Monroe Street and Commerce Street.
