BETHESDA, Md. (ABC7) — A Metro bus collided with a traffic light pole and led to blocked lanes on Rockville Pike in Bethesda Thursday evening.
Officials say the bus driver was removed from the vehicle after being pinned following the accident. The driver has non-life-threatening injuries.
According to officials with Montgomery County Fire & EMS, at least some lanes are blocked after the crash near the intersection of N. Rockville Pike at E. Cedar Lane.
The bus was not in service and there were no passengers aboard.
A preliminary investigation by fire officials reveals that the driver of a vehicle was traveling in the opposite direction from the bus when it made a left turn into the path of the bus resulting in the crash.
Fire officials say the driver of the vehicle was issued two citations by Montgomery County Police.
Northbound lanes at this intersection are currently closed, while lane 3 of the southbound lane remains open.
