Prince William County police said Tuesday a 61-year-old Manassas man has died after being struck by a possible hit-and-run driver last month.

Authorities said the pedestrian, identified as Raymond Philip Rinker, remained hospitalized in critical condition following the crash on Thursday, April 20. Police learned Tuesday that he had died.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., officers responded to the area of Orchard Bridge Drive and Centreville Road in Manassas for the report of an injured man lying near the road, according to Prince William County police.

When they arrived, officers found Rinker unconscious lying in a grassy area near the road. Police provided first aid until EMS personnel arrived, officials said. Rinker was transported to a nearby hospital with "serious, potentially life-threatening injuries."

Investigators said he was likely hit by a vehicle traveling south on Centreville Road, but said they lacked sufficient information to confirm he was struck.

Neither the striking vehicle nor its driver has been located or identified, police said.
