Sources tell 7News that two men were walking out of the mall entrance when they got into a verbal exchange with three people walking behind them.
One of the men turned around and fired multiple shots into the mall in the direction of the individuals, a man and two women, Prince George's County Police Chief Aziz Malik said Friday at a press conference.
The male victim is in critical condition and the women are in serious condition.
There is no active shooter situation at this time. Police are working to identify the suspects who fled the scene.
Several police officers were on the scene as the shooting played out.
Malik said there were two on-duty officers working security at the mall at the time and an off-duty officer had been shopping. A fourth officer showed up as the call came out.
"We must address these senseless acts of gun violence," Malik said.
