President Donald Trump delivered a commencement speech at the Naval Academy graduation in Annnapolis, Maryland on Friday.

Traffic backups, the Blue Angels, and Trump's address were among the flurry of activities in the area. The graduation is being held at the Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

More than 1,000 midshipmen graduated. When the ceremony concluded the graduates did a ceremonial tossing of their caps.

Road closures and traffic have been a challenge throughout the morning. There was a rolling road closures because of tight security by the Secret Service. This comes on the heels of the Memorial Day weekend, and graduation traffic coupled with Memorial Day beach travel.

The brigade of midshipmen left the Navy yard in downtown Annapolis at 6:45 a.m., and they marched through the town. A flyover by the Blue Angels preceded the president's speech.

It’s a special event every year with the commissioning and graduation. The combination of four years, each graduate receives a Bachelor’s of Science degree, and takes the oath of office commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy or as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. It’s an event rich with tradition which includes the throwing of hats.

The city of Annapolis call center is activated to receive non-emergency phone calls starting early Friday morning with road closure beginning at 7 a.m.
