Possible dog fighting ring under investigation in Northeast DC
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
The Humane Rescue Alliance is now investigating a possible dog fighting ring on M Street in Northeast Washington.
This comes after they found two dogs with scars and a large amount of dog fighting paraphernalia inside an apartment.
Officers were alerted when several witnesses spotted dogs receiving strength training at a nearby park.
Witnesses say that training also included the use of spring poles, which would make the dogs’ jaws stronger.
Dog owners in the community are outraged.
“That’s very wrong, they have to pay for it,” said a neighbor. “I just can’t imagine my baby going through something like that.”
“We have a zero tolerance policy for dog fighting,” said Humane Rescue Alliance spokesperson Chris Schindler.
The Humane Rescue Alliance seized the dogs.
No arrests have been made.
