Police: Lock down lifted at Virginia State University after man shot on homecoming weekend

A man was shot at Virginia State University Saturday evening and the school was placed on a lock down the day of the school's homecoming, according to the Chesterfield County Police Department.

The victim in the shooting was said to have received injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police say the shooting took place around 8:25 p.m. The lock down was lifted some time before 1:26 a.m. Sunday.

Police called the shooting an "isolated incident" and said there was "no further threat to the campus."

According to the university's website, Saturday was the last day of a week long homecoming.
