An Alexandria woman has been arrested and charged with hit and run and DUI after police say she drove her car into a woman in a wheelchair and then drove away.

The woman in a wheelchair was on a grass median in a Walmart parking lot on Richmond Hwy. on Saturday afternoon when she was hit, according to a statement from Fairfax County Police.

The driver got out of her car at first, but then got back in and drove away. Witnesses helped officers find the driver and her car nearby, police say.

Sonja Reid, 49, was arrested charged with hit and run, driving while intoxicated, driving on a revoked license and several other drug-related offenses, police say.

The woman in the wheelchair was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
