One by one, officers setup cones along Indian Head Highway on Thursday night.

“People drive way, way too fast,” said Terry Davis-Herbert.

The sobriety checkpoint on Pine Drive, in Accokeek, comes a month after three children were killed in a crash on the busy highway.

Police say the suspect Thomas Hawks was driving under the influence.

He’s now charged with three counts of vehicular manslaughter, along with other charges.

Earlier this month, four people were hurt in a crash on the same highway at Livingston Road.

“The sign up here has been hit numerous times, the welcome to Charles County sign,” said Davis-Herbert.

Prince George’s County police say they’ve arrested 10 people for DUI since the beginning of the year.
