Police respond to carjacking at gas station near University of Maryland

A car was stolen from a gas station right next to the University of Maryland campus Tuesday, according to authorities.

University of Maryland Police say the carjacking happened at the Exxon gas station on the corner of Baltimore Avenue and Guilford Road. Officers say no weapon was involved and have not currently reported any injuries in the incident.

UMD police say the car is a black Audi Q5 with Maryland license plates that read 5BY9917. Authorities have not said if the car was stolen from a student.

Police issued an all clear after asking people to avoid the area. UMD officers will continue to patrol the area and Prince George's County Police are investigating.

No suspect information has been released at this time.
