Police: Montgomery Co. home empty after report of domestic violence, 'swatting' possible

Authorities said they found an empty home after responding to a report of a possible domestic violence situation with a possible hostage Thursday.

Montgomery County police said they entered the home in the 3900 block of Ferrara Drive in Wheaton and found no one inside.

Police said they are investigating the incident as a possible "swatting" call. Swatting refers to the practice of reporting a false crime to get a reaction from law enforcement as part of a prank or joke.

No other information has been released.
