Prince George’s County Police went door-to-door in Chillum Thursday night, hoping for information to help them make an arrest in the murder of a 51-year-old woman.

Brenda Swann, of Brentwood, was found dead on a sidewalk across from the Overlook Apartments at 1507 Ray Road around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said she had been shot in the upper body. Neighbors described hearing around eight shots.

PGPD detectives handed out flyers and talked to residents at the Overlook Apartments and Landmark Apartments Thursday night. Both complexes are close to where Swann was found dead.

Police are trying to piece together the final night of her life.

“We want to encourage anyone who knows why she was there, how she got there, who she was corresponding with at the time, to give us call,” said Cpl. Lamar Robinson with Prince George’s County Police.

On its website, the police department wrote the following:

“Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477), or go online at www.pgcrimesolvers.com, or use the “P3 Tips” mobile app (search “P3 Tips” in the Apple Store or Google Play to download the app onto your mobile device.)”
