14-year-old boy dies after reportedly being caught in crossfire in Southeast DC

A 14-year-old boy is dead after he was shot in a crossfire in Southeast D.C. Sunday, according to authorities.

D.C. Police say they were called to 1720 block of Minnesota Avenue, SE near the Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church at around 6:59 p.m. Officers say they found Steven Slaughter of Southeast D.C. there with a multiple bullet wounds. Slaughter was taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead, officials say.

Police say they do not believe Slaughter was the intended target in the shooting.

Authorities have not released any suspect information at this time.
