A man who had been reported as disorderly in two locations was shot in Leesburg Friday afternoon, police say.

Leesburg Police responded to 911 calls in the 900 block of Edwards Ferry Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. One caller reported a disorderly man at a Sheetz gas station and convenience store. A second call reported the same man in the tire shop behind the station, according to a police report.

After an altercation broke out between the man and an employee of the tire shop, the 911 caller shot the man, police say.

The man was taken to a hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries, police say.

The 911 caller cooperated with Leesburg detectives who say there is no ongoing threat to the community.
