One person is dead and three are in critical condition following a crash overnight in D.C. that left three people trapped in multiple vehicles, according to authorities.

The D.C. Fire Department says the crash happened on Good Hope Road and Altamont Place where a crash between a black car and a red pickup truck left three people pinned.

Fire officials say they were able to get those trapped inside the vehicles out but say that one person died at the scene of the crash.

The three others were taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to officials.

The crash was reported by D.C. Fire at around 12:45 a.m.
